THE BLUEBERRY HILL GUIDEBOOKS

The Blueberry Hill guidebooks are based on research based best teaching practises. Explicit instruction of reading strategies takes place during the guided reading lesson. The guides incorporate the use of graphic organizers to enhance comprehension skills. Suggestions for writing activities honour the reciprocal relationship between reading and writing. A small but important role is also given to phonemic awareness, phonics instruction, working with words and developing a high-frequency vocabulary. Poems and Readers Theater pieces help to develop phrased and fluent reading. The center activities provide the variety and movement needed by young children. The guidebooks were written by teachers and field tested in the classroom!
